Why Write Stories
Story writing in primary school is useful for building essential English Language Arts skills.
Stories can be used to introduce new words and ideas to children. Through stories children can learn about new educational concepts such as numbers, colours and the names of objects. Stories can also teach children how to complete everyday tasks, such as tying one’s shoe or caring for an animal. Stories that are based on real-life can help children understand and cope with their own life experiences and at the same time expose children to a world that is vastly different from their own. Through the use of story reading and writing learning become a simple, enjoyable activity. Narrative story writing is about being able to tell an engaging, exciting story.
